In a career that spans five decades, 24 albums and three GRAMMY awards, Tom Chapin has established a reputation for insightful, heartfelt songcraft and effortlessly charismatic live performances.

Tom’s infectious songs, sterling musicianship and personal warmth consistently shine through, whether he's performing on record or in a concert hall.
The New York Times called Chapin "one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music," while Billboard describes him as "totally captivating."
He began performing professionally as a teenager in the early 1960s, playing in Greenwich Village folk clubs alongside his siblings Harry and Steve as The Chapin Brothers.
Now "I'm at that place in my life where I follow what interests me," Chapin concludes. "I still love the guitar, I still love to sing, and I still love the thrill of creation: a good song, a good recording, a good concert. I feel blessed to be my own boss, creating my own material and performing for so many different audiences, ages and generations."

UNCLE FLOYD (Floyd Vivino):  Hoots explode in reaction to co-host, Floyd Vivino, vaudevillian comic extraordinaire, who, for decades, has been tickling piano keys and funny bones. His long running syndicated cable PBS TV show, both visionary and earthly, garnered fans from around the globe – including The Ramones; David Bowie and John Lennon.

Part comedy, part nostalgia, part folk revolution, the UncleFloyd/John Dull and Friends Show has an auspicious history indeed -  ---past fun participants include scores of regional and national traveling musicians including Tom Paxton and Eric Andersen. Pete Seeger himself linked up with Floyd and Dull in 2013 in a show to protect the northern NJ meadowlands. Folk artists provide working class thought; the zany Floyd provides comic relief – it’s a blue collar dream..

The Story of the Pete and Toshi Seeger Wetlands Preservation Concert Series

On the inspiration of Pete and Toshi Seeger, the Wetlands Preservation Concert Series continues.

When the Seegers eyed expansive wetlands during travels on the NJ Pike, it occurred to them how fragile these beautiful meadows and other wetlands in the northeast are and how they are in need of our awareness and aggressive protection.

Much work has already been done in NJ wetland areas. This series will provide environmental expo lobby displays which highlight some of that work, and will give awards to proactive groups and individuals for outstanding environmental progress in wetland areas. Focused awareness information, however, still needs to be disseminated about remaining untarnished and semi-tarnished meadow areas. These areas are in pronounced need of further protection.

This string of concerts, kicked off by Pete and Friends in November 2010, will have as its goal - -- awareness proliferation surrounding the wonderful opportunities, and beauties that lie in our wetlands. The series will encourage proactive involvement.

Between concerts, visit the trails of DeKorte Park (Lyndhurst, NJ), or take a pontoon boat tour of the Hackensack River. You may see a bald Eagle or 2, an egret, or some beautiful treasure that will remind us of the need to protect these strange and wonderful habitats for future generations.

********************
TOM CHAPIN TO CONCERTIZE IN RUTHERFORD

Acoustic music history and the “power of song” will pour forth from the stage on Nov 19 at the
RCC Concert Hall in Rutherford. And there promises to be some chuckles to boot!

Tom Chapin, Uncle Floyd/John Dull and Friends will appear in the 9th concert of the storied Pete and Toshi Seeger Wetlands Preservation Series. Friends include: Ted Clancy; Martin Dull; The Dammers-Desmond Trio and Scott Petito. These seasoned acoustic notables promise to embellish “an evening of outlandish chuckles and thoughtful folk provocation.”
Tom Chapin’s career spans 40 years, 3 Grammy Awards; 24 folk albums; a stint as host for National Geographic Explorer on PBS; and early band appearances with brothers, Harry Chapin and Steve Chapin. The New York Times called Chapin "one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music."

His new adult CD, simply titled “70”, finds the songwriter full of vitality and brimming with
excitement. New songs address current ecological issues.  "I'm at that place in my life where I follow what interests me," Chapin concludes. "I still love the guitar, I still love to sing, and I still love the thrill of creation: a good song, a good recording, a good concert. I feel blessed to be my own boss, creating my own material and performing for so many different audiences, ages and generations."

Chapin jumped at the chance to participate in the Seeger Series. It not only honors his personal friends and mentors, Pete and Toshi Seeger, it trumpets ideas that Chapin has stood staunchly for during his career.

THE SERIES
This acoustic series is storied – Pete Seeger himself concertized 3 times for its environmental platform (his last concert ever in NJ was part of the series); folk mentors, Tom Paxton; John McCutcheon; Tony Trischka and scores of regional musicians have graced its stage. Environmental awards have been bestowed on artists; activists and organizations for their accomplishments in meadowland protection. The outing on the 19th of Nov will see tabled displays by several environmental groups and will award “Gateway National Park,” an environmental wonderland in NY and NJ for meadowland protection. Gateway is part of the same watershed as the North Jersey Meadowlands – these fragile habitats have been jeopardized for years by exploitative forces. “If these meadowlands were to fall, they would be lost forever. Time to include The North Jersey Meadows in Gateway,” says Dull. ----  https://www.nps.gov/gate/index.htm
